WTF readers have sent us a TikTok video asking to verify it. The video supposedly shows migrants trying to enter Ukraine. Earlier, some media outlets had spread information that Kyiv was planning to accept half a million Palestinian refugees from Gaza.

To draw the attention of Donald Trump and his administration to the "Ukrainian issue," Kyiv is prepared to accept refugees from Gaza, posted Resident Telegram channel on February 7, 2025. They cited a source in Volodymyr Zelensky's office.

"Kyiv proposes to initiate a 'global Palestinian initiative,' under which Ukraine would be the first to agree to accept refugees from Gaza, which should prompt other countries to follow suit. This could entail accepting up to 500,000 refugees," claims the Telegram channel.

The news was picked up by Komsomolskaya Pravda and other Russian media outlets. On February 9, a video titled "Bringing Migrants to Ukraine" appeared on TikTok, and on February 11, it was uploaded to YouTube, showing a large group of foreigners. Readers and viewers of WTF sent us a link to the video, requesting verification.

The footage shows a sign saying Laskavo Prosymo (‘Welcome’ in Ukrainian – translator’s note). The video was filmed near the border—the WTF team determined the location by identifying the advertising signs of two gas stations. We identified the location near the Ukraine-Poland border, close to the village of Shehyni, between WOG and ANP gas stations.

Journalists also managed to find another video, apparently filmed at the same location and time, but from a different angle. It was posted on the social network X on February 26, 2022. The caption states that it shows Indian students who have been waiting at the border crossing for 40 hours, unable to leave Ukraine. In February 2022, international media also reported on this situation: after the war began, hundreds of Indian and Arab students, fleeing danger, were stranded at the Shehyni-Medyka border crossing while trying to leave Ukraine for Poland.

At the gas station captured in the video, the fuel price is visible, with the first two digits appearing to be 34. 34 hryvnias was the average cost of gasoline in February 2022. At the time of writing, this gas station chain sells 92 octane gasoline for 53 hryvnias.
