During a conversation with Russian journalist Olga Skabeyeva at the BRICS summit on October 23, 2024, Lukashenko spoke about "normal men" who do not fight with women. The Belarusian Telegraph Agency (BelTA) published a recording of their discussion, where Lukashenko called U.S. presidential candidates Donald Trump and Kamala Harris “fools” and criticized Trump for calling his rival “stupid.”
“If this were happening in our country or Russia, not a single fool would be elected. Terrible! This one is incompetent, and that one is babbling nonsense. Why insult a woman, after all? Normal men do not fight with women. Fool, this and that. Just imagine if someone in Russia or Belarus came out and said ‘Fool.’ It would alienate a huge number of people,” Lukashenko stated.
Despite his claims, Lukashenko has a history of insulting, for example, his 2020 presidential election opponent, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya. At a meeting with government officials on July 30, 2021, he recounted her departure to Lithuania.
It was all staged by the special services when they gathered all these — Coordination Council and others — and led them to a separate house. And she, the fool, went there. [...] And today she talks about how she was threatened, that they took her children away, and so on. Scoundrel!”
Previously, on November 27, 2020, Lukashenko described intercepting a press conference of the Belarusian opposition, referring to Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya and other politicians as “losers.”
“Recently, we intercepted a conference of these losers, Tikhanovskaya and all those fugitives.”
