Stopped migrants or wasted the budget? ZhS Premium created a fake ridiculing the “impenetrable Polish fence”

The Telegram channel showed a video of migrants using a car jack to get past the barrier on the Polish-Belarusian border.

ZhS Premium posted footage of migrants prying apart fence bars on the Belarus-Poland border with a car jack and squeezing through. In doing so, the channel’s authors sought to back up their claim that Poland’s measures to stem the flow of illegal border crossers from Belarus are failing. The Weekly Top Fake team found out what’s wrong with this video.

Polish border guards reported that the number of attempts to illegally enter the country from Belarus has dropped. One possible reason is a law that took effect in late March 2025, restricting the acceptance of asylum applications. Since its introduction, the number of illegal crossing attempts has been recorded at half the level of a year earlier. Still, the authors of the Telegram channel ZhS Premium insist that Poland’s efforts to curb illegal crossings are laughable.

“Even the migrants themselves are now laughing at the so-called impenetrable Polish fence. They’ve started filming themselves prying apart the ‘indestructible’ barrier with cheap car jacks and posting the videos in Polish online groups. … But of course, everyone understands the fence was never meant to stop migrants — it was built to give officials a chance to skim off the budget. That’s why the result is so laughable,” the July 29, 2025 post read.

To back up their claims, the Telegram channel’s authors attached a video showing migrants prying apart fence bars with a car jack and easily slipping through.

The WTF team found out why, despite the footage being real, it does not support the channel’s claims. The original was posted on the social media profile of a Polish news outlet on X. The video is more than a year old — it was filmed in May 2024. At the time, Polish media reported that migrants were using a car jack to breach the barrier on the Polish-Belarusian border.

Since then, the barrier has been upgraded and reinforced — by March 2025, the border fence looked different.

“Now the entire stretch of the border where this fence is located is protected by two metal section layers. Before, when those additional layers weren’t there, it was very easy to pry apart the vertical bars with car jacks,” Polish border guards said at the time.
