LGBT athletes must participate in the Games and it could become a requirement for the teams. 10 per cent of the athletes on each team must be either gay, lesbian or transgender. If you don't have any, you have to find some. Or personally and solemnly produce.”
The source of the author's confidence in the authenticity of this quote is a story, allegedly by Euronews, running on Russian TV channels. But Thomas Bach's direct speech is not in it. The press conference shown there, at which he allegedly made this statement, took place 6 years ago. Here is the same video on the International Olympic Committee's YouTube channel.
There is no such material on Euronews and the English-language press knows nothing about such statements by a sports official. Even the Russian media have already admitted that it is a fake.
