While Belarus’s GDP is falling, state TV reports stable growth: Aliaksei Audonin manipulates the figures
Aliaksei Audonin, the chairman of the Znanie society, appeared on the First Information Channel and claimed that the recession in Belarus was actually stable growth, allegedly ensured by integration with Russia. However, the figures tell a different story: the country’s GDP shrank by 1.2% in January 2026. Furthermore, World Bank data covering the last 30 years show that neighbouring countries have developed more successfully without union frameworks.

On CTV, the price rise in Poland was described as “rapid”, although food prices in Belarus have risen by a greater amount over the past two years
