Our journalists have received the Hans Staiger Investigative Award from the International Center for Journalists; the Free Media Award from the ZEIT-Stiftung Bucerius and the Fritt Ord Foundation; and the Data Journalism Award from the Society for Advancing Business Editing and Writing. Our Dubai Unlocked project was also shortlisted for the Sigma Awards. 

Between 2018 and 2026, our journalists received 11 Belarusian Volnaye Slova Awards.

What is Belarusian Interactive Catalogue of Fakes

The Belarusian Interactive Catalogue of Fakes is an online tool designed to explore false information and disinformation campaigns targeting Belarus. The Catalogue of Fakes was developed by the Belarusian Investigative Center (BIC) as part of their ongoing AntiFake News project, which has been gathering and examining false information campaigns since 2021.

The platform offers a comprehensive overview of the fake news landscape in Belarus, including visualizations and search functions to help users identify and understand disinformation tactics. It also provides insights into the media and individuals involved in spreading false narratives and allows users to explore specific examples of manipulation and distortion of information. This is a holistic view of how the propaganda machine works.

Are the 9 May celebrations outlawed? How Belarusian state media canceled Victory Day in Europe

Kirill Kazakov, editor-in-chief of Minskiy Kurier, said on Radio Minsk that Ukraine, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia do not observe Victory Day on May 9, and instead allegedly celebrate Europe Day on May 8. The claim was further amplified on CTV, where it was extended to suggest that even commemorative ceremonies and flower-laying are banned in Estonia. The Weekly Top Fake team examined and challenged these assertions.
