Are residents of the Baltic States giving a third of their salaries to Ukraine? A Belarusian Radio host misrepresented four-and-a-half years’ worth of aid as monthly expenditures
The host of Belarusian Radio’s First National Channel claimed that Estonia, Lithuania, and Latvia are spending on aid to Ukraine amounts comparable to one-third of their residents’ average monthly salaries. As a result, they are forced to cut back on social services. The presenter did not clarify that this figure represents aid accumulated over 53 months of the war rather than monthly expenditures.

Can’t Latvia feed itself? State media misrepresented the percentage of domestically produced goods as an indicator of food security
Radio-Minsk and CTV claimed that Latvia is less than one-third self-sufficient in food. They cited the 27% figure from the country’s agricultural development plan through 2036 to support this claim. However, this figure refers to the share of domestically produced goods in total consumption, not the country’s ability to feed its population.

“Don’t believe pseudo-journalists.” We fact-checked Azaronak’s claims regarding the ransacking of Zadornov’s library in Latvia
Ryhor Azaronak claimed that the library founded by the writer and satirist Mikhail Zadornov had been ransacked in Latvia, resulting in the destruction of its books. Threats against Lukashenko and Putin? SBTV attributed a viewer’s words to the Latvian officer
In an episode of the SBTV program Letuchka, it was claimed that Latvian army officer Jānis Slaidiņš had called for the physical removal of Aleksandr Lukashenko and Vladimir Putin. However, on TV24, he said the opposite. A viewer had suggested this option, to which Slaidiņš replied that it “would not be a solution.”

A host on Belarusian Radio’s First National Channel claimed that residents of Latvia are fleeing to Belarus in droves. However, Latvian statistics present a different picture: the number of Latvians residing in Belarus has grown by 74 over the past year, reaching just over 1,300.
