What is Belarusian Interactive Catalogue of Fakes

The Belarusian Interactive Catalogue of Fakes is an online tool designed to explore false information and disinformation campaigns targeting Belarus. The Catalogue of Fakes was developed by the Belarusian Investigative Center (BIC) as part of their ongoing AntiFake News project, which has been gathering and examining false information campaigns since 2021.

The platform offers a comprehensive overview of the fake news landscape in Belarus, including visualizations and search functions to help users identify and understand disinformation tactics. It also provides insights into the media and individuals involved in spreading false narratives and allows users to explore specific examples of manipulation and distortion of information. This is a holistic view of how the propaganda machine works.

"Ranks among the world’s top 300 universities." The dean of BSU’s journalism department overstated the prestige of his institution

During a broadcast on Radio Minsk, Alexey Belyaev, dean of BSU’s journalism department, claimed that Lithuanian higher education trails behind Belarus, arguing that Vilnius University has fewer students and ranks lower than BSU in international rankings. The Weekly Top Fake team fact-checked his claims and found both to be false.
